Some things that have been on my heart recently.
“Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.”-John 4:35
One thing the Lord showed me is that in the scriptures, four is often a number connected with judgement:
“I will send four kinds of destroyers against them,” declares the LORD, “the sword to kill and the dogs to drag away and the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth to devour and destroy.”-Jer 15:3
When he glory departed from Israel four people died. Eli the high priest, Eli’s two sons Hophni and Phinehas and Phinehas’ wife who was giving birth at the time that God executed His judgement upon the nation. The baby was named “Ichabod” which means “no glory”. Is there not a connection here with the many co-workers on your job and unsaved family members. Right now they may seem to have a type of “glory” that they hold to and have possibly never once considered that one day they will stand before God and give an account of themselves. We will also give an account of ourselves. Those who have surrendered our lives to the trustworthy care of our “faithful Creator” will also give an account for the opportunities afforded us by Him to show the lost the truth.
I believe in essence what Jesus was saying was you [My disciples] don’t wait until an unbeliever’s life has crossed with the judgements of God till you speak to them about Me. Then it’s too late. No, go out into the harvest with me and let’s seek and save that which was lost. It not my will that they perish!
