The single determinant of our life whether we have much or little, poverty or plenty are the affections of our heart. This little word is seldom used in our day and, unfortunately for us, many of us do not understand the power of affections. I will leave looking up the definition to you but the root meaning of this word is "to influence". You can accurately picture affections as the reins of a horse. In humans, affections are the reins of THE heart. Be careful to whom or what you give the affections of your heart!! That person or thing WILL most definitely influence your life!Therefore, in the King James (Old English) words of scripture i will admonish you this morning: " Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." – Col. 3:2 KJV.
