What is it?
(Play tack above for full effect :))
Each of us long for it. We search for it, and in the later moments of the night we cry for it.
All of the world promises to offer it and in vain pursuits we seek to acquire it.
What haunts us quietly and consistently is the very thing we were made for.
We have been wired to give and receive it and yet it seems to constantly elude us.
All of our journeys of attempts to conquer has this one thing in mind…
Because the desire of every heart is for this one object there remains a restlessness upon all of mankind.
We drive ourselves to madness until we find it.
High and low, near and far this one inbuilt desire keeps us craving.
Consider this
Life is irrevocably about love. We never do things as perfectly as when we do them from the spring of love as a labor of love. We are never so much like God as we are when we are in love.
When we are not motivated and animated by love then life is drudgery and all things seem to blur together in a midst of meaninglessness.
Love is the bond of perfection.
“…God is love.” ~ 1 Jn. 4:8 b
A voice in the wilderness
“If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”1
