"Suffering wears the face of time". That's a line from the song I am currently listening to by my favorite artist Jason Upton. The face of time is mysterious and changes so much. Today I may be elated with many joys, tomorrow bogged down with sorrow. One thing I have begun to learn to do in the midst of suffering is to worship God. To offer up the pain to the Lord as well as the pleasures is most pleasing to our Lord. The image behind the quote was taken in the place where I grew up. In the field next to the sunset is the place where I used to ride my bike to go fishing with my friend Dennis.I took this picture on the ride away from the 12 acre plot of land that I grew up on with all of my aunties and cousins, my grandmother and grandfather, my mom and uncles. July 11 of 2013 I got the news that there was a house fire on that plot of land and my mother who was the caregiver of my grandmother and great aunt had risked her life to try to pull them out of the house and all of them perished.This was one of the last photos I shot as I drove away from the property last year. I felt it was symbolic of the sunset of these three beautiful women who were in my life for so long. They remain in my memory in heart. I still reach back and access the beauty of those years and the place where I grew up. Yet, through the pain of grieving this and other simultaneous sunsets in my life I have hope for the morning to come. God is a refuge and friend when we let Him be that to us. To all who have experienced lost or heartache please reach out to the Comforter and be comforted by His love.
